Of Showers and Trees. . .

So, this last weekend, we were supposed to fly to Utah for a baby shower being held in my honor.  Unfortunately, though, the flight ended up being cancelled, so we didn't make it which was a bummer for us.  But, I think all the family in Utah still had a good time getting together, so that was good!

After the flight got cancelled, we went out to breakfast and then, when we arrived back at my parent's house, we were greeted with this:

One of the big old oak trees in their front yard had fallen over, right onto their house!  I don't know if it had rotted off below the ground or if the ground was just so wet from all the rain showers they'd been getting lately that the tree just kinda tipped over.  Anyway, there wasn't much damage to the house, thankfully, but Clint and Dad got to spend the rest of the morning and part of the afternoon trying to cut up the tree.

Dad and Clint were able to get most of it chopped up and a bunch of weight off the house, but they couldn't figure out how to get the main trunk off without smashing up the house.  Then Dad got a pretty good gash on his head and they decided they better stop and call professionals.  Yikes!

So, while it wasn't the type of weekend we had hoped for, it was certainly eventful!

Snow!

Sunday while we were at church it started to snow, so they cancelled church and sent us all home.

Our downtown as we drove home.
As you can see, there wasn't much snow, but since we're not used to it here in the valley, we tend to get a little freaked out about it.  Clint thought I was joking when I told him they were cancelling church, and his mom laughed when we told her.

There was enough snow to make a snow ball, though!

A belly picture!  With Daisy running wild in the background.

Since it was a holiday yesterday, Clint got the day off!  So, we went for a short hike along the North Umpqua Trail.

There was a couple inches of snow on the ground, so it was really pretty to get to see the river and forest all covered in snow.

Some of Clint's pictures. . . he's pretty good, I think!

We hiked about 1 3/4 miles in to Fern Falls which were also very pretty!

It was so nice to get outside for a while, even if I did tire out pretty quickly and am a little sore today.  But still, it was worth it!

An Update

Hi there!

Think I've totally forgotten about blogging?  Not to worry!  Things have just been a little crazy around here lately (and there's still more crazy-ness coming up, too).  Before I give you the rundown of what has transpired in our lives since my last post (back in October!) I'll give you a little peak at what my belly looked like just before Christmas:

My view from the top : )

We're 30 weeks now (6 months) and everything is going well with Baby Boy.  This pregnancy has been super easy and Baby is getting bigger and stronger each day, some of his kicks and rolls are really starting to surprise me with how powerful they are!

Anyway, here's a quick update of what has been going on since my last post way back in October:

My computer crashed and is still not fixed.  That is partly why I haven't posted; I was scared to try on Clint's Mac, but now that I've taken the plunge, I see that it's not much different than my PC was.  So maybe that was just an excuse for being lazy. . .

For Thanksgiving, a bunch of my family went over to my Grandma's house in central Oregon and ate one of our home-grown turkeys for dinner.

Clint got a job down in Roseburg at the public defender's office.  Yay for employment!  We moved down here on December 1, so we've been here for just over a month.  Just after we moved here we went and got our Christmas tree!

We couldn't find snow, but still had fun!

We even got to meet Smokey the Bear!

Before Christmas, my Dad was baptized, which was super exciting for all of us.

We had a nice, quiet Christmas with family and have been settling into our new life.

This past week, we had some sad news as Clint's Grandpa Oborn passed away.  We were fortunate enough to be able to travel to Utah this past weekend to celebrate his life with family.  It was a sad time, but it was so great to be able to spend it with family and hear so many great stories of Grandpa Oborn's kind spirit and generosity.  His obituary can be read here.  We are certainly missing him.

Well, that pretty much brings us up to date on our crazy lives right now, but things are always changing, so we'll see what happens next.  I hope I'll be able to keep myself organized enough to post about once a week, but I'm not making any promises!
